The basic concept of the game is to be handed cards totaling up to twenty one. Each chemin de fer player is dealt two cards. When a gambler is given a 9 or lower value card and an Ace they've been dealt a soft hand. When the gambler receives no Ace cards it is known as a hard hand. As soon as the cards have been handed to all players at the table, including the dealer, every black jack player is given the opportunity to make 1 of 6 choices:

Taking another card (Hit): When a blackjack player announces "hit me" the croupier will give them another card, if the addition of that card makes the total greater than 21 the player will have busted and be excluded from the game, if the card pushes the value of the hand to twenty one the blackjack player will be the winner and if the value of the hand hasn't yet reached twenty one they're still in the game.

Keeping the hand you've been dealt: If a black jack player is satisfied with the hand they will hold. As soon as this has happened the dealer will display his/her cards and the black jack player who has accumulated 21 or the closet to twenty one will come away with a win.

Doubling Down: A blackjack player might ask to double down which doubles the wager they have made. Once you've taken this action you can only be given one more card. The details of doubling down are usually specified by the table or betting house game rules so before competing make certain you're familiar with the casino game rules. If you're wagering at an online casino this is usually very easy.
